The American Political Science Association (APSA) seeks a candidate to fill a full-time position for the association's Diversity and Inclusion Programs. Diversity and Inclusion Programs include the Ralph Bunche Summer Institute, the Minority Fellows Program, the Minority Student Recruitment Program, the Mentor Program and the APSA Status Committees. The Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day management and growth of the mentoring and minority student recruitment programs, coordinating recruitment for all other Diversity and Inclusion Programs, and administrative support for the department, including helping to plan the department's annual meeting activities. Working closely with and under the direction of the Director, Diversity and Inclusion Programs, the Coordinator is a key member of the APSA staff supporting the association's goals of facilitating a broadly inclusive, diverse, and welcoming association and political science discipline.
Mentoring Program and Minority Student Recruitment Program
The Program Coordinator manages all day-to-day aspects of the mentoring and MSRP programs. For the Mentoring program this includes but is not limited to mentor and mentee recruitment, marketing, event planning, matching, program evaluation, participant development and follow-up, and assisting with the department's annual meeting activities. For the MSRP, this includes but is not limited to recruitment, marketing, event planning, program evaluation, and assisting with the department's annual meeting activities. The Coordinator also provides creative and effective strategies for expanding program participation and impact. Responsible for delivering annual program growth as determined in conjunction with the Director, Diversity and Inclusion Programs.
Diversity and Inclusion Program Recruitment and Follow up
The incumbent manages day to day aspects of the recruitment and application process for Diversity and Inclusion Programs, including the Ralph Bunche Summer Institute, Minority Fellowship Program, the Fund for Latino Studies, and other related fellowships and programs as assigned. Specific duties include but are not limited to drafting, disseminating and following up on recruitment communications, updating program information and deadlines, preparing application materials for review, and providing administrative support for accepted participants, including onsite support for RBSI students at the APSA annual meeting and assists with the department's annual meeting activities. The incumbent coordinates program participant/alumni follow up and mentor matches and manages day to day programming for the alumni networks of the diversity programs.
