BIC's Middle East and North Africa (MENA) program is offering an internship opportunity to a successful candidate to support our Washington DC-based team in the work we do in our focus countries: Egypt, Iraq, and Tunisia. This internship will give the selected candidate the opportunity to learn about issues of development, particularly transparency and accountability, social and environmental rights, and community involvement in the programs of the World Bank Group and how those issues relate to the MENA region. Our informal, dynamic structure enables interns to become immersed in BIC's day-to-day operations while gaining extensive practical experience and knowledge of the International Financial Institutions in general, and developing a critical perspective of the projects and policies of the World Bank Group in particular.
This intern will be primarily responsible for compiling and editing our quarterly email newsletter, and will play an important role in ensuring that campaign materials are accessible via our website in English and Arabic. The intern will also provide general support to BIC's MENA team. Activities include:
The successful intern would start the position as soon as possible in February 2016. This internship is ideally a fulltime position but there is also some flexibility should we find the right candidate. The internship is for a period of 3 months with a good possibility for extension. BIC will offer the successful candidate a stipend of $1200/month.
