The number of productivity apps I currently use is a little out of hand. That being said, there are 10 apps I 100% love and that have definitely earned their way onto this short list. Together, these web and mobile apps will help you edit your papers, crunch tough data for your papers, stop missing your 9am classes (why do those exist?), prep for grad school, and even find the motivation to get the gym. Technology is great...enjoy!
Think Spell Check on Steroids- This app helps you catch simple spelling errors and larger grammatical misteps that drives your professors and TAs insane (and mess up your GPA!)
Not going to lie, this app is a little creepy- it let’s you see when and where someone reads your emails. It is also let’s you snooze emails when you are busy, and pre-schedule emails so you don’t have to worry about finishing up an email to your professor at 3am.
Thinking about graduate or professional school? Not sure if you should study for your entrance exam alone or take a class? This app will help you find valuable prep and decide if you studying on your own is the right choice.
There are a ton of bibliography apps out there, but this one is oh so simple. There is nothing worse than finishing up a paper last minute and realizing your citations are a disaster. Save yourself some stress and use Easybib to create your list of sources and manage your footnotes.
Just discovered this app and it is everything! A self labeled “computational knowledge engine”, Wolfram aggregates data on just about any topic in easy to read charts and tables. A must have for anyone doing heavy statistical research.
Venmo is cool and all, but nobody is trying to wait a day for their money to clear. SnapCash not only gives you a five dollar bonus for signing up and referring friends but also deposits your money immediately into your bank account.
Studying abroad or just trying to get through your language reqs? Check out this app that lets you translate and written and spoken phrases. That’s right, you can speak in to the app and it’s version of Siri will translate the phrase and spit it back out to you.
An oldie, but still and essential one. For anyone who is unfamilar, this app does exactly what you’d think, it helps you up your discipline (ie it blocks all your social media sites for whatever time you specifiy so you can actually get some work finished)
Alarmy (Sleep if u can) alarm iphone
Will admit that I have never tried this one and don’t really want to, but it seems like a great solution for anyone with a class before 11. This trick is that you can only turn off the alarm by shaking it or going to a place you preset in the app and submitting a pic from that location. Disclaimer: probably wouldn’t try this out if you are having roommate issues.
Struggling to find motivation to hit the gym? This app will donate to $.10 to a charity for each and every mile you run. That’s right, all you have to do is download the app, track your progress, and partner companies will pay some of your favorite charity every time you do it.
Wifi Finder App android- Anyone else working with a low data plan? Thought so. Here is an app that will let you facetime when you’re not on campus and not trying to blow up your phone bill.

Project Gutenberg: Awesome for anyone in classes where you’ll be reading classic texts. Books become part of the public domain 95 years after their date of publication, so go crazy with this list of must reads by Ida B Wells Frederick Douglas, Dubois etc.
TED: TED Talks are always a great way to get refocused and recommitted.
Momentum: Set your purpose every morning (or everytime you open a new tab) with this google chrome plug in. Momentum prompts you for a list of your three top tasks each morning and provides a new inspirational quote and background each day.
